Technology Exploration Project – M591
Summary of M591 Coursework Article 4
Academic Year 2007/8
Highlights of the group project are:
- Very good organisation and cooperation of students in the unit to complete the article within a short period of time.
- The primary research results are very relevant to the article subject.
- The university has sent a press release regarding the completed article.
Areas that need improvements are:
- The article thesis was too much like a summary of the research findings. The thesis statement could have been more of a bold and innovative perspective about the article subject. For example, could the case study example be used to support a proposal of a completely different way for the NAO to audit the HMRC?
- Section 6 with recommendations for improving data security needed additional analysis and research to identify more relevant recommendations. For example, considering that a fundamental error made by HMRC was to send data that was not requested, one of the recommendations in Section 6 should concern the practice of access/transmit on an as-needed basis.
- Due to the longer length of the article, the structure needed improvements to highlight the main research findings of the article and to make a smoother transition between different ideas.
- Due to having multiple contributing authors, the article needed much more revision for grammatical improvements and errors.
