Response to case study scenario 1

As a junior engineer there are a lot of factors that should be considered. If a problem was caused then there should be a reason. So it means a malfunction must have occured. Some considerations are important to be thought of. What if next time the problem increases and have a considerable amount of usbs to have problem when testing. Not only that but what if the fire that may be caused is big enough and lead to life threatening and life damaging situations. Also the next time that the problem will arise with more intense the number of the faulty usbs will be increased and therefore the more money loss. Considering that the problem came up once it's not unlikely to happen again. All this factors would result in serious consequences that would affect seriously the company. Costing money and even human effort and life. Also we mustn't forget the health and safety rules that apply into an organisation (if it is either a facroty or an operation or a company in general). From the point of view of the customer is that the customer will lose his reliability for this company and that therefore means more loss of money for the company. The most considerable reason for the company not to do the test is to save money and time. But with that rate it could even lead to shuting down the company due to unreliability to the market. But just like any company risks are taken. The point is the consequences each risk will have. So by seeing all these factors above and the consequence each action will have and by weighting the factors and their consequences we have a desicion making process. It's not ethical to risk peoples lives in the name of money. Not only from that aspect of money but also from the point of view that a company has rules that must be obeyed. It is important to protect all the assets of the company in the best way that it can be done. The best decision is not to ignore the problem, but to make tests and discover the source of the problem and fix it.
