I don't agree with the manger because this matter has many points to be dealt with like it is not ethical to hide such informations. The company should act as a trusted party and I must be professional about my decision because simply is that it is my duty to deliver trust worthy products to my costumers. That is from the company side but on the other side "the buyer side" these three memory sticks may effect his work deeply in a bad way as example he may save critical informations on those sticks and as a result he might lose them or cause him some damage.
It is something like the relation between the doctor and the patient if the doctor give a wrong description, the patient might be in a great danger, so what will the doctor do about it ? he just ignore it and hope that the patient will be fine ?!! the same thing here I should not just forget about it . In the other hand this will have reflections in a very bad way like when the costumer know that I did nothing about these memory stick that will effect on his future businesses with the company.
three memory sticks mean 1,5 % of the provided stuff are damaged and that is not a small percentage .
But me being a new in the company I don't have that big effects on my manager so all that I can do to be trusted and do my duty and never break the conducts and regulation I permitted from the first place when I joined the company.
first I will ask my manger to give me a latter telling me to ignore the damaged memory sticks "or Email" so I can be in the safe side when the customer make a complain against the company. It is reality world so I have to keep in mind my pay check must not be effected .Then if there is a higher positions person I can report the case to with all provided documents that I got "the original damaging report and my manger letter to me to ignore problem".
and as I final step I will report the case again to the manger providing him with the serial numbers of the products and advice him to worn the customer about that so the customer can avoid using them and as a result the company is still a trusted party , I didn't lose my job and save the future business with that customer.
