Case study answer 2

If I were the supervising engineer responsible for step 6 in the manufacturing process which is coming on the critical path meaning by it had to reach its deadline by all means and nothing irreversible can be done, I’ll sit back calmly and give this situation a deep thought and a panoramic view that, considering an assumption if there were 10 tests involved in the step I were responsible for, all the tests went successful which means that I’ve achieved 90% success and the test which was left, I could assume it to be ok as a generic guess, as the product behaved as expected in all the rest of the 9 tests. Keeping the probability in mind that if for instance the test would not have been a success, I’ll also analyse the risk of not doing that test and how serious could be the consequences and what could be the possible outcomes.
Having all this knowledge, I’ll consult the person responsible for the next step that in this scenario, what could be the suggestions or provisions he might have and could possibly give me some more very useful information that how or in what way this could affect the next steps or affect the project overall or if that test can be ignored or if we could market it without that after realising the risk factors. Afterwards ill speak to the project supervisor accepting my mistake and having gathered all this knowledge ill discuss with him that under such circumstances what is something best he would do or could think of as the reputation of the company is on stake and would suggest him the options I have. Ill possibly come out with the suggestions that as we could launch it as a beta version of the product and could ask the client to give us the feedback and if this affects the product or doesn’t give the desired results, we could have another chance to eradicate the problems. If the shipment could be delayed or the deadline of the overall project can be delayed in any way we could always run the step 6 again, we could possibly ignore it too and would take very good care of such matters in the advance. I’ll let him to decide over that what does he thinks best as Intel being one of most reputed firms has to meet its quality standards too so from the companies prospective losing out on this project would be better than losing its reputation but this could possibly be dealt in a diplomatic fashion too.
