Technical requirements of the transmitter
Bluetooth 2.1
- Operates at 2.4GHz
- Maintains a link to a device upto a 10m range
- Encryption Pause Resume: enables an encryption key to be refreshed, giving much stronger encryption for connections.
- Enables Audio/Video streaming depending on the protocols used (upto
- Secure Simple Pairing: radically improves the pairing experience for Bluetooth devices
- Sniff subrating: reduces the power consumption when devices are in the sniff low-power mode
- NFC (near field communication) automatic pairing of devices when they are held close to one another
- Additional bandwidth when compared to earlier bluetooth schemes (for multiple pairing)
- Upto 2.1 Mb/s transmission for audio and video streaming
Piconet
- Allows one Master devices and upto 7 active slave devices at any one time.
- ACL connection between master and slave (data sent in packets of 2700 bytes) slave will only receive after it has been polled by the master device.
Protocols
- Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) allows transmission of stereo quality audio over a bluetooth channel to a device
- AVDTP (Audio/Visual Data Transport Protocol) streams music to receiver devices over L2CAP channel works in conjunction with Advanced audio distribution profile. Allows connection of a master device to multiple slave devices
Codec's
- SBC an audio encoder/decoder system specially designed for Bluetooth audio and video applications to obtain high quality audio (implemented according to A2DP)
Connections
- jack connection
- 3.5 mm jack to 3.5 mm jack
- 3.5 mm jack to phono
- 3.5 mm jack to 6.35 mm jack
- 3.5 mm jack to 2.5 mm jack
Casing toughness and scratch resistance
Thermoplastic material (can be moulded by heating and pressure or vaccum forming). Note that the size of the plate of plastic in this case does not correspond to the size of the transmitter and receiver boxes. It is a standard purchase size from the manufacturer.

Business opportunity analysis
Bluetooth headphones are becoming a very popular Item nowadays, as more and more of them start joining the market with more and more companies wanting a slice of the lucrative and exiting market it is soon to start saturating. Also due to the fact how few portable media devices there are out on the market in today’s world that contains the ability to connect without wires. These are some of the reasons as to why we believe that we have and edge for our device in the Market of today’s world.
One of the main weaknesses that our competition has is the fact that many of those that can be purchased today don’t have the flexibility to have several devices enabled with the ability of quickly swapping between them. Our Product on the other hand is very much suited to solving this due to the use of a Piconet.
Another weakness with current items in the market today is due to their limited utility, as in the limited amount of Media players that they can connect to, Most of the devices we found would only connect to IPods and nothing else. Hence we have decided that this will become one of our biggest strengths. The use of the device being able to connect universally through 3.5mm jack will be highly rewarding as this means we can market this device to anything that uses this kind of connection be it from you portable media device to your phone, then all the way to your computer and speaker systems.
IPods are indeed the most popular music devices out there in the market but that doesn’t mean we will be putting our idea at a disadvantage, for are device will still be able to connect with IPods via the 3.5mm jack, Just like how we will also be able to connect our device with other media devices via the same means.
Our item is going to be an entry level item, cheap item. Due to our product being cheap we have made the product more accessible to our chosen demographic, Students. One of the many reasons why we have chosen for students to be our target demographic is due to the fact that we know the most about them (since we are all students). Because when students come to university most of them will have to leave many of their possessions at home because of the fact that their rooms inside of their accommodation won’t have as much space as their used to in their family home. Because of this we believe that the use of no wires will be an exceptional bonus and use to the student. Further to this it is noted that Students are some of the most eager people to be able to pick up new and use new technology.
The main benefits aside from the Utility of connections and the price point will be the fact that it allows quick switching from receiver to receive. This we believe to be a fantastic innovation for this means that you can keep the music following you where ever you go in this hectic world of today. The reasons as to why we believe that this gives us an edge is that we will be the first company to offer this on top of the Bluetooth streaming. Because of this it stops the need to constantly reorganise the connections as you go around the day, For if the user were to spend but 10 minutes when first purchasing the Product the user wouldn’t need to re organise the Positioning and connections for this would have been set up to be in the most likely positions for the item to used from.
